What is C2PA trust list? (trust anchors)
A C2PA trust list is the set of certificate authorities whose signatures are recognised as legitimate provenance signers. A manifest can be cryptographically valid yet signed by an unrecognised party, which is not the same as trusted. ChronoVerify validates against the official C2PA and CAI trust lists and only reports provenance as confirmed when the signer is on a recognised list; a valid-but-untrusted signer is reported as unverified.
Why it matters
The trust list is what separates a cryptographically valid credential from a trusted one. ChronoVerify only reports provenance as confirmed when the signer is on a recognised C2PA or CAI list; a valid-but-untrusted signer is reported as unverified, never as proof.
