What is C2PA? (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity)
C2PA is an open technical standard for recording where a piece of media came from and how it was edited. A C2PA manifest is cryptographically signed and bound to the file, so a verifier can check that the recorded history has not been tampered with. ChronoVerify reads any embedded C2PA manifest and validates its signature against the official C2PA and CAI trust lists, returning a trusted, valid, or invalid state.
Why it matters
C2PA is one of the signals ChronoVerify reads when you check a photo's capture time and provenance. No single signal is proof on its own: the verdict combines provenance, metadata, and pixel forensics, and is investigative triage for human review, not a courtroom guarantee.
Run a photo through it and see C2PA in the result.
