Terms of service
These terms cover use of the ChronoVerify website, the public verifier, and the API. The short version: verdicts are investigative triage to support human review, not proof and not a warranty, and you should not use them as the only basis for a decision about a person.
What the service is
ChronoVerify reads metadata and runs classical pixel forensics to return a verdict and a confidence score about a photo's capture time and provenance. It is provenance-first and is not a deepfake detector.
Triage, not proof
- Verdicts are probabilistic and are labeled as triage. A clean result means a file's saved data is internally consistent, not that the scene it depicts is real. Pixel-forensic signals degrade on recompressed, resized, screenshotted, or platform-stripped images.
- You agree not to use a ChronoVerify verdict as the sole basis to accuse a person, deny a claim, reject a listing, or drive any automated decision that has a legal or material effect on someone. A human should review the result and the evidence behind it.
Acceptable use
- Submit only content you have the right to submit.
- Do not use the service to harass, to surveil unlawfully, or to break the law.
- Do not attempt to overload the service, scrape it, or circumvent the rate limits or the spend cap.
Accounts, keys, and billing
- API access requires a key. Paid use draws from a prepaid credit balance or a monthly plan. A hard spend cap stops usage when your balance reaches zero, so you are never billed beyond what you have funded.
- Prepaid credits do not expire. Your balance stays yours to spend for as long as your account is open.
- Subscriptions (Business and Scale) renew monthly and can be canceled anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep access through the time you have already paid for and are not charged again. We do not refund partial months.
- Purchases are final and we do not provide cash refunds. Because prepaid credits never expire, an unused balance is always available to use rather than lost.
- You are responsible for keeping your API key secret. Usage on your key is billed to you.
No warranty and limitation of liability
The service is provided as is, without a warranty of accuracy, of fitness for a particular purpose, or that any given verdict is correct. To the extent the law allows, ChronoVerify is not liable for decisions made from its output, and total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the three months before the claim.
