ChronoVerify

What is Chronolocation? (temporal verification)

Chronolocation is working out when a photo or video was taken. Analysts corroborate any embedded timestamp with evidence inside the frame: sun position and shadow length, weather, seasonal vegetation, clocks, and datable objects. ChronoVerify reads the capture time a file records and checks it for internal consistency, which gives chronolocation its starting hypothesis; confirming that time against shadows and weather is the analyst's craft.

Why it matters

Chronolocation is the OSINT discipline behind the question ChronoVerify's homepage asks: when was this photo taken? The verifier establishes what the file itself claims and whether that claim is internally consistent. An analyst then corroborates it externally with sun position, historical weather, and datable details in the frame; the tools for that work are on the resources page.

Run a photo through it and see Chronolocation in the result.
